Tar and Chip Paving

Tar and Chip Seal is a pavement that consists of compacting, by use of a roller, 3/8" chip rock into a coating of hot liquid asphalt. This type of pavement is best applied to a dirt or black top surface.

Once completed the new pavement has a very clean, country look that resembles a gravel driveway. With the one major difference being that the hot tar and rock have solidified into a single, very strong form of pavement.

maintenance free solution

You'll see alot of Tar and Chip Seal pavement on county roads, farm roads, driveways and parking lots because the cost associated with Tar and Chip Seal is quite a bit less than other pavement methods. Plus it's very durable and maintenance free.

why not always use chip & seal

Most paving companies these days do not offer Tar and Chip Seal pavement because they do not know how to install it correctly. Where Tar and Chip Seal is applied on site and needs warm weather to be installed correctly due to the use of the tar base, Hot Mix Asphalt is prepared and mixed at the company's facility, hauled to the construction site and applied already prepared.
